Quinoa Salad! Quinoa Salad!

Can you believe, its already a month since you wrote all those Resolutions for the year!! Weight loss and ‘being all healthy’is on top of my ‘goals-supremo’ this year!! Apart from the occasional caving into sugary creamy things, lets call it rewarding myself;) I am trying my best to keep our meals rich in vegetable content!

With  much research and  experimentation,I have managed to nail down some weekly staples! Will surely share all my best finds in coming blog posts! One current favourite of mine is this featured  Quinoa salad!

Quinoa is the most ‘vouched for’ miracle ingredient and I bet you always see it time and again as one that will yield amazing results in your weight loss program. With twice the protein Rice yields and three times that of couscous -it makes you feel full quicker and for a longer period !! Its also said to be a rich source of Phosphorous,Iron and Vitamins and the best part is its low in its calorie value!!

I first had this salad when I was out for lunch with friends at a great restaurant here in Qatar, they served it with some Lobster Bisque (was delissh!!), I Have adapted the recipe slightly and serve it with some grilled chicken breast and its grown to be one of my easy lazy go-to weekday recipes!

Ultimate Quinoa Salad- Serves 2
Cooking time -15-20 mins approx

Ingredients:
Carrot  1/2
Capsicum  1/2
Cucumber  1/2
Tomato   1/2
Chicken Stock 1 stock cube
Garlic Salt a pinch
Olive Oil   1 tsp
Avocado   1
Coriander for garnish
Salt to taste

Dressing:
Juice of half a lime
Chopped Parsley
Olive Oil

Make sure to wash the quinoa grains thoroughly a few times until the water is all clean!
As for the cooking time I would strongly recommend following the packaging instructions to the T, as I have found that different brands of quinoa vary in cooking time. I used  chicken broth to cook the grains instead of water, this rendered a lot of flavour to the dish.
As the stock cubes are usually salty, I did not add any more salt.

Once the quinoa grain is boiling away you can get into chopping action! Chop half a carrot, cucumber, capsicum and tomato into tiny cubes! You can let your imagination go wild here and work with what best suits your time in hand!  I usually prefer tiny cubes as it looks really pretty!  You can even chop up some extra and store in in the fridge for a second meal which would totally save time!

Pour the olive oil in some pan and sauté  all the vegetables except cucumber, add the tomato last to make sure it doesn’t go all soggy! Sprinkle the garlic salt and stir away till the vegetables are cooked.

Once the quinoa is done, Blend in the sautéed vegetables and the cucumber. I usually have the salad sans any dressing as the quinoa is really moist, but if you  fancy some, you can whisk some lime juice, olive oil and  finely chopped parsley and add it to the salad.

Serve it up with some gorgeous chopped avocado and coriander!

Isn’t this super  easy!!

Have you tried Quinoa before? We would love to hear about how your weightless journey  is progressing  so far!

Until Next time!

Take care and stay healthy!

Lovely LeadenHall!! Lovely LeadenHall!!

Hello!

It was certainly one chilly Saturday that London saw this season! Well, that surely wasn’t going to stop me from getting out there and exploring the mighty LeadenHall!!

With my top notch super epic Over the Knee boots( PS: My Best  buy this sale season) ,dipping temperatures wasn’t on my list of worries! This 14th Century gem is tucked away and well hidden between the mighty sky scrapers that adorn the skies of London’s Financial District!

With ornate ceilings, lovely coloured walls in hues of creams and greens and the majestic cobbled streets, its a bit of 14th century experience when you get off your tube ride at the Bank Station! There is much detail and artwork in each of the mighty pillars and it felt that they had stories to tell!  The market Hall is open on weekdays alone and pretty deserted over the weekend which means you can break away from all the hustle and bustle and truly appreciate the grandeur in your own time!

It's  a thing of  delight to stumble upon something new or unexpected just when you think you know your city well or I guess that’s just the way London is!! Never fails to surprise you!!

As for the outfit, Well it would be fair to conclude that I did some crazy shopping this sale season! This look is perhaps an ode to Zara :D The Dress and boots and the bucket bag are all from Zara!

I am absolutely loving smock dresses this season if you are looking for casual chic I love this one and this one is really smart! If you fancy some lovely embroidery and some nice sleeves i am sure you will love this one

Over the knee boots is total must have this season! I have been wistfully scrolling by these many a night and with slashed prices I couldn't have been happier with the buy, Check this and this, loved them both!!

Floppy Hats can never go wrong! I got mine from accessorize, this one is is on sale now,I love the metal chain detail on it! I particularly love matador hats and  I am secretly contemplating buying this one.

So until next time!

Take care!!

Lime Crime Velvetines are here!!! Lime Crime Velvetines are here!!!

Hello!!

I hope you guys had an amazing weekend!! ‘Crazy hectic ‘would the way to describe my home scene at the moment! With the little ones falling sick one after the other, we’ve spent a fair share of last week waiting at the doctors, but the good news is –they have been feeling much better and with every little ounce of energy they gain, bouts of chaotic madness follows!!

As for today’s post I would like to feature the ever so controversial Lime Crime Velvetines- The Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick.
The velvetine range is truly vast with an amazing color range for everyone’s liking! From Berry pink, Cashmere (Greige),Pale Mauves to Utopian Orchid Pink-there is a color to match  your wildest lipstick fantasy!!

As for me, Riot and Faded are the ones I picked up!!I had been eyeing Red Velvet and Wicked but as luck would have it –those turned out to be out of stock!

With Super chic and fun packaging-In Fact The labelling matches the shade of lippie and the frosted glass tube with red cap definitively made a good first impression!!

The small and rounded applicator makes it easy to apply the product, the downside being it can grab a whole lot more product than what’s needed! There was good color rendering with a single coat and once dried, I went for  second coat which gave a good finish to the look! Like all the other matte lipsticks out there, make sure to prep your lips to prevent any flaking.

Riot described as Marsala, looked brick red/peach tone on my skin tone.
Faded described as a purple beige and again depending on lip pigmentation it can look pinkish. I got a good 5 hours wear out of both the shades,It can fade a bit if there is lot of eating and drinking involved!!

I truly think its definitely worth a try and I totally get the hype and raving reviews that went about with the Velvetine Edition!

At 20 Dollars its reasonably priced and you can get your velvetiness here , I used Paypal for my transaction.Mine got delivered in about 2 weeks time to my place in India! Totally looking forward to getting a few more from this range!

Until Next time!!

Take care !!
